I recently joined a Zoom wine and cheese tasting with Janine from Rheinhessen’s Weingut Brüssel, an event co-hosted by sommelier and wine podcaster Jan Eißman and white wine expert Jens Jensen. Under their guidance, I and a number of other Germany-based cheese- and wine-lovers spent the evening sampling three of Janine’s wines and three delicious Swiss cheeses, all from the comfort of our own homes. It made for a throughly enjoyable alternative to the now all too familiar Friday lockdown nights on the sofa.
During the event, it occurred to me that I’ve only really seen such events offered to German speakers here in Germany, and that English speakers who aren’t keen to join German language tastings have been really missing out. I am therefore very excited to announce that Janine will be hosting another cheese and wine tasting on Friday 22 January 2021 at 19:30, once again with Jens and Jan, and also co-hosted by yours truly – and the whole event will be in English!
Event details and bookings
The virtual wine and cheese tasting costs 65,00€ for three bottles of red and white wine, three soft and hard Swiss cheeses, shipping within Germany only – apologies to those of you elsewhere – and a Friday night full of cheese and wine chat. It’s guaranteed to be both hugely informative and heaps of fun for both passionate German wine drinkers as well as those getting to know German wines for the first time.
You are very welcome to email me with any questions (christie [at] asausagehastwo.com), message me on Instagram, or drop any queries into the comments below. Bookings can be made by emailing Janine (info [at] bruessel-wein.de) by 24 December 2020 so that she can get her Swiss cheese order in on time.
Looking forward to meeting you virtually and cheering up what tends to be a cold, grey German January with a glass of wine (or two)!
