Oranges (Orangen) are a classic ingredient in festive bakes and drinks all over the world, and Germany is is no exception. Grated orange zest or spoonfuls of the fruit’s juice are incorporated into doughs for various citrussy Advent cookies and fruit breads. These might also be decorated with candied peel. Slices of orange are also commonly added to the selection of warm spices traditionally used for mulling wine.
