The next Mainz Food and Wine Tour: Saturday 13 April 2019

Half-timbered houses in Mainz, Germany
Mainz. Germany's wine capital and an excellent - and extremely easy - day trip from Frankfurt.

I’m excited to announce a new date for the food and wine tours of Mainz that I offer with local boutique wine tour company Bottlestops. Taking place on Saturday 13 April 2019, wine expert and Mainz local Jérôme Hainz and I will lead a three-hour tour of Mainz’s wine capital complete with wine and food tastings. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable way to learn about Mainz’s food, wine, culture and history – even if I do say so myself. Full details, booking information and a video about us from a previous tour are down below.

Tripadvisor review of Bottlestops Mainz food and wine tour

We’ll be announcing more dates soon if you can’t make this one, and if you’re interested in exploring the surrounding wine regions more widely, do have a browse of the Bottlestops site. I know I work with Jérôme, but I’d highly recommend his wine tours: he’s a hugely knowledgable guide, his tours are very well thought out, and they’re a fantastic way to explore the wine regions in this part of Germany.

I’ve written previously about the tour Jérôme invited me on in the Nahe and Rheinhessen, and a review of the Christmas wine tour he invited me on in December will be coming here soon. But you don’t have to take my word for it: if you’re a Tripadvisor fan, there are also plenty of glowing reviews to scroll through there, too.

Mainz Food and Wine Tour: what you need to know

German wine expert (and native Mainzer) Jérôme and I offer a three-hour tour of Mainz that begins with a tasting of some of Jérôme’s favourite local wines in a private cellar. We then explore some of the city of Mainz on foot – including its gorgeous medieval old town – learning about local food and wine history, culture and traditions, and sampling a variety of delicious local specialties along the way. The tour ends enjoying the relaxed, cosy atmosphere at a traditional Mainz wine tavern.

The next tour will take place in Mainz at 14:00 on Saturday 13 April 2019. It costs 68€ for the three-hour, small group tour including food and wine (come hungry!), but book before the end of February 2019 using the code TASTYMAINZ and you’ll receive 15% off. You can save your spot quickly and easily using the form on the Bottlestops website – we’d be thrilled to have you with us!
